When you are planning your wedding timing is everything! You will find many guides on the web that will give you time tables with advise on when to book your venue, when to meet with the florist and when to send out your invitations. These same guidelines will apply to your gown as well. When you are shopping for your wedding gown you want to allow enough time for your gown to arrive. Most manufacturers will offer a guideline of 3 to 4 months for your gown to arrive, some may be as far out as 6 months but that just looks at how long it might take for the dress to arrive. What are some other things to take into consideration.
Most brides think of their needs from the wedding date, but with your gown, if you are having portraits done in advance of your wedding day, you need take that into consideration as well. If your portraits are scheduled for a month before your wedding then you whole timetable for ordering and alterations needs to be adjusted accordingly.
Will you be needing alterations and if so, approximately how long might that take? Depending on what type of alterations are being done it might take 6 to 8 weeks to get them completed (if you are having any changes made to the original design of the gown, side seam alterations, hem, bustle etc, it all adds up to more time needed to get the alterations done).
So, in order to assure that you can have the option to order the gown of your dreams and make sure it's here in plenty of time we recommend placing the order 6 months to 1 year in advance. But we know that life sometimes happens so what are some other alternatives?
I don't have 6 months to a year, now what?
Not to worry, these are just guidelines. There is still a lot we can do to help make sure you get the gown of your dreams. First, you need to come in and find "the dress" then we can get to work.
Sometimes a manufacturer will have hanging stock so we can check that for you. Others have express ship dresses that they will guarantee in a shorter time frame. We work closely with our manufacturers to give you the best guidance available.
If hanging stock
isn't available then we can inquire with the manufacturer about having your gown rushed in the manufacturing process. This can't always be done and it does come at an extra cost ($75 - $150 in most cases) but it is a possibility.
Different Manufacturer, Same Gown
Another option is we can look at other manufacturers for a similar style gown. Often several manufacturers will offer the same style gown with very similar embellishments and ship times vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer so what one might not be able to do the other might.
You might want to look at our options of hanging stock as well. We always have a great selection of clearance gowns that are marked as low as $99 and many are up to 75% off the original price. They are all available immediately and you can get some great deals as well. If the fit isn't perfect we can easily alter a gown up or down 2 sizes and can even add a lace up back to your gown if you need a little extra breathing room.
No matter what your time frame is we hope that you will take a few minute to give us a try before you buy and we hope you decide to be a Brides House Bride.
